studio

It’s a quiet Sunday mornin here at the warehouse.

I am dyeing my MDSW / Cloverhill order. Just me and John Mayer (sigh).

I stopped by the sugary rings of death shop (Dunkin Donuts) to grab a muffin and some coffee on my way in. Punk rock, sk8ter boy was there. He is a 16 - or - so (man… the older I get the younger they look!) skater that I see around my neighborhood . He is likely in transit to work or Charm City Skate park.

The cowboy noticed him one day and chased him and his uber-cool posse down the street saying “shred it man!” Awesome. Very cool, no?

Well, I tell Tony Hawk this morning that my kid saw him and thinks he and his friends are really cool.

He said “Yeah. I saw him. I told my friends that I see you in the DD like EVERY DAY!

I said ” Not everyday. I have a studio in the building next door.”

He said “Well, every weekend then. You come here a lot.”

NOT COOL! I have been branded by generation Y as a donut eating mom that has a funny kid. I usually get COFFEE ,Mr. Hawk.

And as an FYI… those clothes your wearing… we wore them first when they WERE NOT in style.

That haircut… yeah… we shaved each others heads in the bathroom at school while we were smoking cigarettes (I quit people) and being WAY too cool to go to class.

Sk8 videos were grainy , nearly contraband, VHS tapes that your older brother watched (much to your protest) while you wanted to watch the Wizard of OZ!… Oh.. well that may not have been cool.

I am going to lick my wounds by listening to the Replacements and the Bouncing Souls now…

Damn.

I have always dreamed of being a working artist, surrounded by other artists, getting better at my craft by being in the midst of good company.

I have a loving husband who supprts me in more ways than I can ever describe or could ever imagine. Someone who lets me take the house over and cover it in yarn. Someone who keeps his mind open to new ideas…. and has a few GREAT ones of his own.

Now I mentioned that I may have some secrets…

Welcome to the future home of C*EYE*BER FIBER Yarns. I have a studio! Not only a space to dye… she will be the space where I teach! Yes friends… meet the WAREHOUSE! Expect to see her ready for classes Jan 1, 2007.

Email me if you live in the Baltimore/DC area and want to take a dyeing/fiber arts class. The classes are VERY limited in size to create an intensive hands on experience.

Stay tuned for more REALLY good things to come! I still have a few secrets that can not be disclosed yet!
