Are you there God? It’s me .. Mama…

Filed under: C*EYE*BER Fibers, Sheep and Wool, TEETH — mamae @ 12:46 am

Oi vey people!!!

Can it be MDSW NOW?! I just want to fast forward to Wednesday when I pick my partner in crime up from BWI and the party starts!

I had another round of oral surgery this morning. Much more minor compared to the last round… but it still sucked. No more baby teeth for me (yes… I still had one lone ranger!)

The last of my sheep and wool roving is steaming… and all is quiet here at the warehouse. (Yes… I still had to work today… I wish I had my ja-jaminas and some codene)

I totally feel like I am in a  flippin’ Judy Blume novel along with some nameless 9 year old girls I know.  It is raining and pouring for me and my homies…lets just hope that the weather breaks for us (figuratively and the like).

Any astrology buffs out there? Anyone wanna take a stab at my charts? I would LOVE to see that!

Oh.. and I love you Doris Day. You made my night.

More (brighter) topics of conversation tomorrow… Like the MDSW open house/ pre party at my studio on Friday!

Can I go Back to Bed now?

Filed under: family — mamae @ 2:24 pm

Umm… just found out that Chewy… the wonder cat… has anxiety disorder.

Thank you nice vet man for the 245.00 bill (and 135.00 in a supply list) to say that my cat is crazy. Let’s hope the feliway works… shall we?

Let’s not forget the kitty prozac too.

Oy!

Back to Basics

I have been thinking a lot about beginnings… how did this yarn thing start for me?

In my recollection… I sent out some test skeins in late 2005 to 5 folks around the country to see what they thought.  They gave the thumbs up and the yarn started being produced.  The name “C*EYE*BER Fiber ” stemmed from all of the input and support that the virtual web-based internet community provided (and continues to provide, I may add!)

I remember one of the things that I loved doing were “customs”. Send me your images and I send you that in yarn.

So.. fast forward a couple years. And… the fact that there are 2 of us that make C*EYE*BER Fibers now. And…we reopened the Warehouse. And we are interested in getting back to basics. So..

Welcome back the custom colorway! WOOT! You can have it your way again… any weight , any combo! Come and see…

Thanks so much for your support! We are so touched by how amazing you all are!

So Not Cool

Filed under: studio — mamae @ 10:33 am

It’s a quiet Sunday mornin here at the warehouse.

I am dyeing my MDSW / Cloverhill order. Just me and John Mayer (sigh).

I stopped by the sugary rings of death shop (Dunkin Donuts) to grab a muffin and some coffee on my way in. Punk rock, sk8ter boy was there. He is a 16 - or - so (man… the older I get the younger they look!) skater that I see around my neighborhood . He is likely in transit to work or Charm City Skate park.

The cowboy noticed him one day and chased him and his uber-cool posse down the street saying “shred it man!” Awesome. Very cool, no?

Well, I tell Tony Hawk this morning that my kid saw him and thinks he and his friends are really cool.

He said “Yeah. I saw him. I told my friends that I see you in the DD like EVERY DAY!

I said ” Not everyday. I have a studio in the building next door.”

He said “Well, every weekend then. You come here a lot.”

NOT COOL! I have been branded by generation Y as a donut eating mom that has a funny kid. I usually get COFFEE ,Mr. Hawk.

And as an FYI… those clothes your wearing… we wore them first when they WERE NOT in style.

That haircut… yeah… we shaved each others heads in the bathroom at school while we were smoking cigarettes (I quit people) and being WAY too cool to go to class.

Sk8 videos were grainy , nearly contraband, VHS tapes that your older brother watched (much to your protest) while you wanted to watch the Wizard of OZ!… Oh.. well that may not have been cool.

I am going to lick my wounds by listening to the Replacements and the Bouncing Souls now…

Damn.

All Call for Designs!

First off… thanks SO much to everyone for your kind and thoughtful healing vibes. We are doing well.. the cowboy is up to his normal speed (if any of you have met him that is double time!) and I am getting into the swing of things.

Dawn and I are slowly expanding our product lines. We are adding lace yarn to the site very soon. We would LOVE some lace patterns to offer with the yarn. if you have any fingering weight patterns… we would love to see them too!

Please email us  if you are interested!

Crazy…and Crazy 8’s!

Filed under: C*EYE*BER Fibers, family — mamae @ 10:05 am

Things have been rollercoaster-y here at Chez’ Mama.

There is the Good:

Then, there is the bad.

The cowboy and I were in a car accident. We are very, very thankful that we sustained very minor injuries. The cowboy has a scrape on his poor little face from the seatbelt. He calls it his ANNAKIN mark from STAR WARS: Clone Wars 1. I felt so bad for him that I let him get his hair cut like Annakin Skywalker, complete with spiky flip in the front (not rat tail though… Daddy vetoed and I was inclined to agree). Cowboy says his haircut is “Jedi in the front and business in the back”. Funny kid!

I am sore still but getting better. I think the adrenaline really set my muscles into lockdown. My little Scion -that-could is in the shop. THANKFULLY, they can fix it. I have so little left to pay on it… I was terrified that we would have to have ANOTHER car payment.

So, we are crazy. Astrologically, there must be something going on. My br-G-Tiddy just had an emergency appendectomy. My poor mom was so not happy to hear about all of the negative vibes surrounding her adult babies.

I am hoping your weekend is warm and wonderful! I am resting and crafting this weekend. Cowboy gets a new tae kwon do belt on Saturday. Go Jedi master!
