Meet Chewbacca (Chewy) Orlando. The cowboy suggested “ORLANDO” as a first name as an homage to a preschool friend. D suggested Rover, which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the cowboy and calls of “Here ROVER! Here boy!” (which I felt was funny… but just pain wrong!) I suggested Chewy (as in the furry space alien from Star Wars) and it stuck.

Those green eyes totally got me! We wanted to get cowboy a kitty for Hanukkah (and give it to him during one of the 8 crazy nights of Hanukkah) … but then I went to the shelter to “look”. I made one of those “Honey… I found a kitty” calls in the whiny-I-want-this-one voice to D.

This little bugger has the LOUDEST purr for being a little dude (I believe he is a runt). He also has a “BOBTAIL”. A genetic defect where he has 1/2 a tail. I knew he was the one. (Sorry to the lady that asked questions about him before I got there… the shelter has a “no holds-no exceptions policy… )

If you want to know where I have been… it is with this guy and the family. Welcome to the family Chewy!

I just did the “let’s go look” thing with my hubby! And we came home with Raven. Chewy will bring you lots of joy..and frustration. Take it from me, put your glasses away in a case at night. Otherwise Chewy just might..on your glasses. The voice of experince there,eh? Oh and Chewy? Raven tells me that if you shove your nose really hard into momma’s ear at 5:30am, she might get up early and feed you. she might just throw you out of the bedroom too, but you never know….

He has a “wise” sort of look to him, and those ears are amazing. Hope he grows into them!

Congratulations to you all on the newest family addition. I think it’s like a rule or something that every knitter must own at least one cat, so Chewy was inevitable. May you all enjoy many happy years together!

YAY for the CAT! The cat will love you when it seems no one else does, and stay by you for his whole life. I once knew a dog named Chewy who was black and sort of perpetually disheveled….

OMG KITTEN!!!! Sorry, lost my sense of decorum upon seeing the M-Fing cuteness! I had a cat with the genetic defect bobtail, but her’s was twisted and formed a little ‘Z’ so I named her Zelia. She was the best darned cat I’ve ever had; she was super affectionate!
Congratulations!
